We’re four episodes into the new series of Doctor Who now, with Jodie Whittaker having firmly established herself as the newest Time Lord.
The latest instalment saw the Doctor and her companions battling giant spiders in Sheffield – but viewers also got a look at 1950s Alabama in the Rosa episode which aired last week.
But just where exactly has the new series been filmed? Well Cardiff, where it’s previously been shot, does feature regularly – but that’s not the only place that’s played host to Jodie and her co-stars.
Here’s what you need to know.
Where is the current season of Doctor Who filmed?
Much of the current season of the show was filmed in Cardiff as always – but other locations have also proven popular.
The first episode of the show was shot in Sheffield – which is where the season premiere was also held- which was confirmed by the the episode synopsis referring to the fact that ‘we don’t get aliens in Sheffield’.
The location was chosen to reflect the fact that new Doctor Jodie Whittaker hails from Huddersfield, while co-star Mandip Gill is from Leeds.
However the show has gone further afield in this series, with the acclaimed episode Rosa – in which the Doctor and her companions meet Rosa Parks and become involved in a momentous event in history – set in Alabama.
It wasn’t filmed there though, in fact being shot in South Africa earlier this year.
Other locations have included Monmouth and Gosport, while fans have also reported that the series has shot scenes in Spain.
And others couldn’t help spotting that parts of episode four – in which the Doctor battled giant spiders in South Yorkshire – were actually filmed in Celtic Manor.
The resort, which is in Newport, doubled for the hotel featured in the episode, with Sex and The City’s Chris Noth starring as its owner.
When is Doctor Who on?
The series continues on BBC One next Sunday night at 7pm.
